Description
(TO BE RE-DEBUTED AT MINAMICON 15)

I love Esther *in the manga + Novels*, shes abit of a cry baby in the anime.
I started watching Trinity Blood back in March 08 and just adored the story line and art, after looking more deeply into the novels and manga i got hooked! By a spontaneous reaction i had chosen to cosplay Esther for the London Expo in May 2008.
Now this decision was only 1 month before the Expo itself! and the next 2 weeks i was crammed with University work so i went for the option of commissioning the Habit(Nun dress), that way i would only have to worry about the Petticoat, shoes and armour (Already had red hair + Blue eyes).

The Armour in general was made all out of craft foam. My method was to cut the foam into the desired shape and then coat it with a minimum of 6 layers of glue(PVA), this way when it came to painting the foam it would be smooth and resemble more like metal.
When all the glue was dried ( I used a heat Gun to speed up the process(Be warn use it on a low setting otherwise you'll bubble the glue))i then spray painted the armour with a Matt Sliver.
I then learnt a nifty trick called antiquing, i got some black Arylic paint, dapped it with a scrunched up tissue and then (in circluar motions) went over the armour. The Arylic will wipe off of the smooth areas and stay in any cracks or crinkles, giving it a wonderful worn effect.
The Rosary was made from Fimo(Porcelain effect) with the swords on the back of it made out of Craft foam using the same method as above. The Rosary was held by Plastic beads ( The nice cheap ones you get from Claire's or an 80s club.) and simply spray painted.
The Gloves were bought at a local Costume store, i then painted crosses ontop using Arylic ( i totally failed at Appliqueing).
The shoes i found in a little dodgey Indian shop but for a Bargain price! (I could not believe how hard it is to find white high-heeled shoes!!?)
I made some craft foam armour and glued it onto the shoes but they fell off more or less straight away! If anyone has a suggestion on how to stick craft foam to shoes i would LOVE to hear it!
The Petticoat was rather simple, bang together two pieces of white fabric and then sew on a load of frills! 7 metres no less!

Journal

Esther Re-Vamp (Posted 3 Weeks Ago)

Its been about 4 months since May London Expo and i've finally got round to fixing+cleaning Esther up!
During the Expo the sliver paint rubbed off of the armour onto the Habit(Nun Dress), this was a NIGHTMARE to get off, at first i banged it into the washing machine (twice) at 70degrees with stain removers, this only did a very tiny amount of cleaning, the next step was scrubbing it with soapy water, this did nothing!
I then read online that Alcohol can remove paint, not this time it did'nt.
Now it was time to use my last resort, Paint Varnish Remover with a Scoar. Finally the paint was coming off! even all of the hot glue/Super glue stains! But it did weaken the fabric slighty.
I popped it in for another hot wash in the machine and now it looks perfecto!
I then tailored the dress in abit so that it gives a snugger fit. I added 2 extra Petticoats this time round so now it bows out neatly! I am currently re-making a 3rd petticoat which will have all the frill patterns ontop.
I plan to also Applique the gloves properly and give the shoes a good clean/re painting.
O yes! I also want to add more props this time! I made an AX Fan for Caterina which will be used for this cosplay as well. Also i would like to make an AX gun! Which will be attached via a Gun Holster onto Esther's garter. This should be fun! XD
I MAY take this to the London October Expo08 (sunday) if i cannot get Caterina finished in time but its main Re-debute is planned for MinamiCon 15.
