| Attending the fabulous Grand Cosplay Ball, I wanted to have another go at designing something! I didn't like the shape of the dress I wore the previous year, so tried to choose something that would give more curves. Amy Lou and I decided to go with the forest theme, and I chose water/rivers. Only....as with all my designs I changed many MANY times and it ended up looking like nothing to do with water :D I fail! It was suggested that it could be closer to a wind theme, so I might try and take it down that route instead :D It was very rushed at the end (due to my being silly and really indecisive) but I managed to get it done, minus a lot of detail. I'll finish this off and hopefully get a few photos (maybe Amecon?) The black parts were duchess satin, the silver bits were a strange metallic fabric I found, overlayed on cotton. I used a skirt I owned under the silver pleated bit to puff it out and give it more shape. The colour scheme happened when I found the gorgeous blue-silver gradient silk, which I used for the drapes. I decorated the dress with matching gems & trim, and spray painted the flowers for the headdress and back piece. I added turnovers to some ankle boots to make them fit in with the outfit. Day before the ball while frantically still sewing the dress I threw Amy the headband and some flowers and cried at her to make it pretty, so thank you Amy Lou :D | |

Finished, at last! (Posted 30th August 2010) Knowing I wouldn't have time to make a new dress for the Amecon ball I decided to take the time to finish my original design I did for the last Grand Cosplay Ball. The main outfit wasn't changed much at all really, but I had time to add embellishments, finish the necklace and add details such as the sleeves and head pieces. In my mind the bits on her bunches were going to have the blue fabric draping from them, but in practice it just looked odd so I went with something simpler. It was only when I finished that I realised it looked like cat ears :P |
