|Cost :||Including all my equipment buying/giant foam stores... £100?|
|Time Taken :||40-60hours? I don't knowww.|
|Kuja was my idol when I was but a young thing, so obviously I was going to have to cosplay him at some point.|
One of the main things I was pretty determined to do for this one was make his jacket properly solid and armoury, instead of the fabric which most people seem to go for. I mean, really, looking at the original CG, that ain't pure fabric, people :\ I ended up using a buttload of overlay for the jackets, and the shoulders are done with papier mache inserts, cleverly sewn in with ridiculous numbers of bands etc.
The under spikes and random armour detailing are all spray painted foam <3
The material stuff was easily the simplist bit of the whole thing; that manskirt and the sleeves hardly took any time at all. The boots, however, were a bit of a crazy slog. I'd never done boot covers before, so ... eek. That fake leather is really nice stuff to work with, btw, and I would hardly reccommend it. Cheap, as well...
The leg armour is more overlay (I think I may deserve the title 'Clood the Mighty Overlayer' by now), so craft foam and material.
As for what I learnt doing this... Overlay, mainly. How to do boot covers, gloves, attatching feathers to wigs, that foam is awesome and also, foam absorbs spray paint. Will have to look into what covers foam and is paintable - styrene sheets, maybe...
Anyway, I'm pleased with how this turned out, even if those boots do absolutely destroy my feet :\ Seriously. They're giant heels with no sole. Damn you, Primark.
OH AND THE GLOVES ARE HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, FRAYING LITLE BASTARDS. That is all =3
