|Talked into it by the boyfriend and our friend Wilterdrose...although, to be honest, it didn't take much convincing! :)|
I've always loved Toy Story since the first one in the series was released, and was so happy when it finally got a third film - although I was sad to see that Bo Peep wasn't in it! :( But no matter. This costume is everything I love about being girly - it's cute, it's pink, it's got a huuuuge skirt and lots of frills! :D
I got to talking with my friend Ruth (Wilterdrose on here - look for her!) because she did a kick-ass Jessie cosplay, and eventually our Toy Story cosplay group, You Are A Toy, was born! I'm really looking forward to seeing it all eventually come together.
You Are A Toy consists of:
Woody - MrTicklesWorth
Buzz LightYear - fusioncell
Bo Peep - Luminescence (me!)
Jessie - Wilterdrose
Rex - Mungojerrie
Slinky - Crazedteensie
Aliens - B L T
Mr Potato Head - Olly
Tour Guide Barbie - Relion
Zurg - Tinfoil

Lazy (Posted 18th June 2012)
Bo Peep's been on somewhat of a hiatus for a long time, but today I decided to pull her out again and make some progress. As a result, most of the layers on the bloomers are done, and I've only got a few more of those and the waistband to go before I call them complete.
I also have my blue fabric for the shirt as well, so I just need to get some lace and something for the white trim.
Woot (Posted 30th August 2011)
Today I went to Wales with my sister, boyfriend and Sisceal to go to the big fabric store we like there :) I got some tulle for the back of Bo Peep's skirt, and I really like the shade of pink I chose - it's sort of bubblegum, and really cute!
I also got some new pink fabric for the shirt and bonnet. I decided I wasn't really happy enough with what I had been previously using, and I found a piece of pink t-shirt fabric that was a little over two metres in the remnants bin that matched the tulle well, so I bought it. :) Yay!
HOOPSKIRT :D (Posted 29th November 2010)
My hoopskirt arrived this morning, yay! It's awesome. I have glided around the living room wearing it and wrestled with it to get it back into the bag it arrived in. Unfortunately I forgot how the guy packed it, so I had to make up my own method and use two bags instead. Much fun. BUT YAY :D
Bloomers-a-go-go! (Posted 20th November 2010)
Okay so, today I've started and completed the base of the bloomers. I'm very happy with them! :) Now I just have to do the masses of ruffles, which I've worked out how to do. I just have to get on with it... D: I feel like I'm putting a lot of effort into something that'll hardly be seen, as they'll be under the hoopskirt, but it wouldn't be right if I didn't have them!
Bloomer fabric (Posted 19th November 2010)
So today I went down to the fabric store just to see if they had anything suitable for Bo Peep, and they had a really nice roll of blue cotton that was the right colour for the bloomers. I bought five metres of it, as I plan to make all of the ruffles that she has on her bloomers as well :)
Yay! (Posted 18th November 2010)
Yesterday I bought a hoopskirt for myself, so that'll be here in the next couple of weeks, hopefully, as it's coming from the USA. I'm so happy to finally own one! :D I've wanted one for ages and now that I have one, I can get some progress done on Bo Peep when I have the money...I think I may be waiting until after Christmas, though, because I think I may be getting some vouchers for my local fabric store, and I may use them towards this. :)
Sloooooow progress... (Posted 9th October 2010)
Due to lack of funds I haven't been able to do much for Bo Peep...however, I've got a couple of things going with the materials and fabrics that I've already got in my possession.
I've already got some socks and suitable shoes to wear, so that's no problem. I've made most of the bonnet and have fabric for it, but I need some foam or something to act as padding so that all the bumps in the cardboard won't show up underneath (and also so it's a little bit more waterproof!).
I've been on the lookout for suitable wigs; however I find that blonde is a difficult colour, and the fact that she's a toy with bright yellow hair doesn't help! So I'll have to think about that one. On the plus side, I've managed to find a nice hoopskirt to buy when I have the money, so that's good.
I've been working on the shirt part of the dress for a while now; I've recycled some old pink lycra-ish fabric that was used for an abandoned cosplay, as it was a shade of pink that I was happy with. I've also got some blue for the front, but I'm not sure if I should paint the design on or find some lace - unfortunately all of the lace that I've seen so far is stuff that I haven't really liked! However I know what fabrics I'm going to be using for the skirt part of the dress, but due to lack of money as mentioned above, and also the fact that I don't have a hoopskirt yet, I haven't bought any fabric, as I don't want to buy too much or too little! As for the bloomers, I've got some light blue fabric, but I'm not sure if I've got enough. I'll have to have a look, and if not it'll be another thing I'll add to my to-buy list.
For the crook, I've got plenty of fabric roll poles in various sizes and widths (my mum gets them from her work), so I'll try and find the thinnest one I have. I also hope to have a sheep plushie if I can work out how to make one!
So yeah, progress is slow...but I'll eventually get there!
