| Despite the fact that this film scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, I'm really excited to be doing this. I love her cute, boyish frame (which is rare in most modern disney films) and optimistic attitude. I want to stay true to the original film as much as possible so I'll be referencing this costume from stills from the film, rather than the newer artwork. I definitely can't wait to start practicing for the voice, with lots of help from Sophie ;D --I'm also wearing this dress to my friend's 18th "Cartoon Character" themed birthday - which means I have to speed up working on this! Hair! (Posted 15th September 2010) Okay, so I had a little play with my hair last night. I'm starting to get the hang of it, but I'm not satisfied with the fringey bit. But I can learn from my mistakes ;D It's not as easy as I thought it would be, I only have straighteners to curl my hair... And just because I haven't posted any progress of the dress doesn't mean I've forgotten about it! It's nearly done, I just have a few bits to hem and whatnot, but I'll upload a photo soon. |

Bodice + Skirt. (Posted 28th August 2010) Well I'm making great progress on my dress! I bought a lovely navy fabric today for the bodice and started making it as soon as I got home. A few episodes of Buffy later, the bodice is all (hand)sewn up and ready to go. I've pinned it to the skirt, but I need to buy a zip first before it's wearable. Also need to buy the fabric for the sleeves, then I'm practically done! |

Finally making a start! (Posted 18th August 2010) Hmm kay, so after HOURS of surfing the internet for a decent fabric for the skirt...I found the perfect shade in my own tiny fabric shop in town. I'm going for a pale yellow (As seen in the film) instead of the canary yellow that you see in the recent artwork, and I love this colour. I'm working from a pattern (I wouldn't even attempt this otherwise) and I've started cutting out the pieces, but really I need to start on the bodice first. Still pending on some fabric for that, but I'm gonna journey into Blackpool at some point and have a look in Blacks, to see what they've got. Hopefully they'll have something I can use! |
