Description
The Little Mermaid is my favourite Disney movie of all time and Ariel is one of my favourite Princesses. Kingdom Hearts is, obviously, a fairly big deal and, although I've never played it myself, there's generally a group for it at most cons, so it's a good way to make friends and get cool groupshots. This costume has been a long time in the making, I originally intended to wear it to Auchinawa 2006, but due to various hitches, I didn't manage to finish it in time, so it's lain in my wardrobe, waiting to be finished for months now. I decided to wear it to Amecon because it'd be a waste not to and I was determined to finish it no matter what, which I have. The hardest part, surprisingly, wasn't the tail (though that came a close second), but the top. It took me 3 attempts to get it right because of various miscalculations about skrinkage of stretchy fabric when sewn to non-stretch items and the like... oopsie. After much rage and cutting up of bras, etc, I finally gave in and painted some plastic shells, which were still a little small, but work OK when on my fleshtone top. I do know that magic pants need to be involved in the wearing though. lol. Right, several things wrong with this, the tail get caught on stuff and the thread is too long, so it needs wrapped around my fingers, so it cuts off the circulation after a bit. Plus, the tail needs pinned closed cos I put on some weight. oopsie...
