Description
This was so fun to make, and got a lot of attention! I'm definately going to improve on it and rewear it at the next Amecon that i go to!! It was a really simple variation on the chocobo character that we all know and love. The dress was a cheap summer one from Primark, that only cost about £5. I bought feather edging which i then sewed onto the collar and bottom of the dress. Since i made a tutu from yellow netting (so easy to make tutus) i had to cut slits in the sides of the dress so that it sat on top of the tutu, looking more poofy than trapping the tutu down. I made a part of the tutu longer at the back, so it looked like an attachment of the tail. The tail was made from 4 or 5 feathers sewn together. I hadn't realised how tough the quills were and i snapped two needles attaching them together...T_T i then gluegunned the feathers to the belt. The belt was made from old curtain blinds. The venetian type, made from really tough starched cotton or something, so it was stiff. I covered that in fabric, and sewed velcro onto it. The tights were H+M, and the shoes were Primark! The feather boa i just cut in half, and sewed to the edges of the sleeves, and put some string on the end that i could loop over my fingers. The mask was pretty hard to make! I remember the competition photographer was like 'WOW thats such a creepy mask!!' I was like 'thanks....? =_=' but anyway! It was just basically two balloons taped together to make the head and the beak. Then over 2 days (it was nice and sunny so i could leave the mask outside to dry) i papier mached newspaper onto the balloons, then painted it. Gluegunned the feathers on, sewed some elastic....and that was it!!! It was pretty easy and relatively cheap to make, and i hope to improve on it in the future!!
