Thanks. This is a paradoy really. I'm doing Spartan 1337 from the Halo Legends Anime "Odd One Out". The story of the Spartan 1337's misadventure after falling out of a pelican and being left alone to fend for himself. Animated byt the creators of DBZ. It's a great non-cannon LOL episode.

Good luck with this one- it'd be great to have another spartan at expo! ^_^

Thanks. I'm not having to concentrate so much on detail for this at least since I'm basing it off of an anime spartan. But it should still look awesome. Just not sure weather to go for the full anime look and outline some of the panels or not.

Interesting to see how you are building it - haven't seen that expanding foam method before but it looks really useful. Thanks for the wip pics.

You'll need to make a bubble shield and an assault rifle :P

also regarding the outlining, if you have the time I'd say test it out on the handplates and see if it looks any good

Question for you: What is the foam called that you used? I'm currently working on a MARK VI Recon variant for October and i'm just trying to keep my options open as to how to fill the empty space. Cheers, in advance :) Also, what do you do after you've foamed it? Do you just leave it or do you cover it or what?

plaster? like plaster-plaster? Isn't that just gonna shatter as soon as someone nudges it or whatever? plaster is great for decorative pieces, but on costumes I'd be terrified of it caving in if I dropped it or just looked at it funny

Nono, I've used ready mixed filler from Poundland. Cheap, but it work very well.

Journal

Nearing completion! (Posted 23rd October 2010)

Well, it's been a long, ill ridden, ride but the costume is nearing completion now, and should be done before I leave on friday. At this present time though I'm beginning to debate weather or not I should go as 1337 or not. Reason being that despite it not being perfect, it still loks damn well good enough to cosplay the Chief and still not wory about it's slight in-accuracies and cheap appearence. On top of which I dunno if I'm gonna have time to make an assault rifal or not... I need a weapon!

We're Back! (Posted 16th October 2010)

It's been a long time coming, but despite being ill and what not I am finally getting on with this damn thing. The helmet is just about finished now and just requires painting and adding the padding. Decided to black line panel everything to give it a more anime look. Should be good.

Costume Delayed (Posted 27th May 2010)

It is with a very heavy and tired heart right now that I declare this costume on hold and not appearing at this may's mcm expo. This is largely due to the stupid dickwads on ebay who should have sent me vital parts needed, but instead went on holiday and left me waiting.

1337 Progress Report - Day 2 (Posted 17th May 2010)

Well, despite the few hours I've been able to work on this armor, I've managed to finish the base build for the front torso, now moving onto the back torso which is made up of large A4 pieces which should take much less time than the front to assemble.

Still not sure weather to just go with the realistic/natural paint job, or weather I should outline all the panels and go with the full anime look.
