| Okay, I only decided on the 8th May that I quite like the way she looks and that I'd rock her. I had 3 weeks to cobble something together. And I did :D I also did Tae Kwon Do until I was about 3 exams away from my black belt, so I could do some of her poses :3 I wore this for both days of the May 2010 London MCM Expo. The fully tailored leggings was a good decision, the last thing I wanted was for certain bits to split! So everything was sewn together 3 days before Expo. Leggings, belt, hemming, chaps, halter/handkerchief top, gloves/gauntlets... it was knowing which bits to do at home (hammering in the studs/rivets) and which I could get away with doing in a hotel room whilst lecturing at the Guardian Hay Festival the day before (hemming my belt!). The handkerchief top was the hardest thing to get absolutely right. I didn't want to use tit-tape or anything like that to keep it on, I just wanted the top to look flimsy, but stay on properly. So it really is just material, cut and sewn to fit me exactly. The whole thing slips on, then the chinese collar fastens with a press stud. The gloves were padded with kitchen sponge XD OMG the belt/chap combination - it's all knowing how to tie it. The belt is just one piece, so I had to tie it exactly right, knowing when to fold the chap straps in. So going to the toilet is a right chore because I had to re-tie my belt and fix my chaps in place every time. The hair was also an interesting exercise... I didn't want to cop out by just doing buns, they needed to be tufted! So it's a mix of my real hair and fake hairpieces. I left the two (real) curtains at the front. Then I twisted my hair into a tight bun and held it in place with two chopsticks, nothing else. Then I clipped a false fringe into place and added two false falls to the top of my bun and fixed with pink hair ties. I couldn't be arsed to put the red contacts in D: And I forgot to paint my nails for the Saturday T_T Materials = £60 Accessories = £20 (socks, fail goth rubber spike bracelets, hair ties from Claire's Acc) False hair pieces = £30 | |
