I used a pair of plastic clippers to damage the supports, the bulb area and the extendible tube. I painted the metal with GW paints (Boltgun basecoat, wash of the black/brown washes then drybrushed mithril silver.) The grey bits were foundation dark grey (don't know the name sorry) then dry brush of codex grey and highlighted codex grey. The middle handle bit was achieved by painting the entire tube bleached bone, then chaos black over it, the black was scrapped off using the flat side of the plastic clippers leaving the black in the recesses and dirty bleached bone at the top.

My goodness the destroyed sonic screwdriver looks wonderful. Very well done. I love Matt Smith's Doctor sooooooo much so can't wait to see the finished costume :)

The tie looks brilliant and must have been much cheaper than buying it =D
Tie was about £4 and Sharpies were about £2. We already had paints.
So much cheaper than £40 :P
