|This was a really fun costume to make. The helmet is a giant metallic red Christmas bauble with a hole cut in it, and plastic tubing around the edge. I originally painted it with Dulux one-coat but there was still red showing through, so I spraypainted it - for a little while the solvent reacted with the coating and I had a pearlescent pink space helmet! Fortunately it settled down as it dried.|
The gadget boxes on the front and back are foam blocks covered with tin foil, covered with sticky-back plastic. Mounted on top are some chopped up VHS tape reels and some Fimo buttons. I glued some calico on the back to mount the straps onto.
The gun was a cheap pound-shop thingy spray-painted silver with a plastic cone mounted on top using some aluminium wire. The light-up bands are Electroluminescent wire hot-glued onto the cone. I wish I'd hidden the black wires a little better, serves me right for making it the day before the con!
The wig was an awwwwful party wig but it was the only thing that really suited in terms of the style, and as it turned out, it looked pretty decent! The hair beads are wooden ones from a Primark necklace painted red. And the boiler suit was less than a tenner off Ebay!
Unfortunately there was no Edgeworth to menace on the day I wore this costume...!
