| Well, yeah... I like shiny! This was such a beautiful outfit I just couldnt resist - hardest bits were trying to work out how on earth to keep that headdress on my head and cutting that pink fabric... nightmare! The headdress is quite clever I think - first the real hair is put in a looped bun/ponytail and left for now. Then over that loop I have a hair loop with the two side fans/tassels and one end of the fake hair shapes at the top. The other end of these hair shapes are pinned into place onto the top of my head. Then the green part is placed tucked down behind the fake hair and a headband with the rest of the gold decoration is slid on over the top, keping it in place. Finally I just tuck the roses into my hair, TRY and sort out the loops at the bottom and voila! Really easy and quick to get on and off, and pretty secure as well! Obviously the headdress is not quite finished yet... There are some dangly bits, some pin things sticking out and the hair forms at the front which I just couldnt work out how to do... oh and working out how to do the bottom part of the headdress. Hardest thing about wearing this is a) 3 layers of skirt (petticoat underneath) so warm and b) breathing... Im a heavy cosplay so to stop the top sticking out strangely, I had a body shaper underneath and then the obi was deliberately placed too high up the outfit to flatten it that way. When they were playing the taiko drums the reverberations were going right up me! This is my best cosplay to date! I learnt a lot about different fabrics and shaping fake hair for this project. | |
