| I just adore this little dress King Triton puts her in with the aid of his triton, and i love Ariel so much im determined to do as many of her dresses/versions as possible As my original base dress went into epic fail, I'm going to start from scratch again with this for May's expo next year! UPDATE: Thinking of having this as a backup plan for Kita if Meg falls through. If I still do Meg, I'll do this for the Friday of May's expo!! UPDATE 2: MIGHT have this in my mind for possibly wearing at one of the Disney World's halloween parties when I'm there this October! Now I've sussed how to make a dress like this through making Megara's outfit, I feel I'll be able to make this successfully. I want an Ariel costume that's simple but beautiful and doesn't take up much suitcase space, and this is kinda perfect and it means i dont have to wear her town dress yet again UPDATE: Found fabric for it now and bought, so putting back into 'in progress' | |

NEW FABRIC FOUND! (Posted 4th January 2013) Okay!! So I'm making this dress for October's halloween party in DisneyWorld when adults are allowed to cosplay in the parks.... My friend Vicky will be Melody to go with this and it's gonna be awesome. Yes I've decided that lol! No more making this wrong! Now I've made Megara's dress I feel like I won't make the same mistakes as last time I tried this now I know what to do! So yeah... I found new fabric which is AMAZING! I'll need to put a lining with it as the fabric is sequined on both sides and slightly see through as well scratchy. But it's so sparkly, it sparkles in EVERY light! I got the sample through the post this morning and fell in love with it, that I bought 3metres of the fabric tonight! See photo of the swatch! Love love LOVE! So yeah... although I don't need this costume until October, now I've finally found the perfect fabric, I'm just gonna make it when the fabric arrives and I've got the lining fabric. Which I might have laying round at home somewhere- if not I can buy some another time. UPDATE: 8TH JANUARY 2013: Fabric turned up yesterday woo!!! Just gotta get some lining fabric at some point so I can make this, I'm gonna be months ahead of needing this but I don't mind, it's something to do! Also means IF I get to attend to any cons this year I got a casual easy enough costume to wear ^^! |

HATE HATE HATE (Posted 11th July 2010) I'm really hating this cosplay at the moment.. nothing I do makes the front look right and it's driving me insane. I have a feeling I'm going to end up starting from scratch all over again with a new base dress... Im really hating it that much! I never thought such a simple dress design could drive me so crazy. If anyone has any advice or ideas to help me out I would be SO greatful, because right now I wanna get rid of this one and just forget about it... |

Base dress found 23/05/2010 (Posted 23rd May 2010) I was lucky enough to find a really light blue linen long dress today in Scope (god bless volunteering for a charity shop!) which I just need to swap the straps over as they're currently criss crossed. Then I need to cut out a panel from the bottom. With that spare material I intend to then use it to make the swooping bit at the front of the dress. |

lmao! Yeah its very glittery! Something tells me when i make this, I'll need to do the glitter in the garden lmao
Glitter glue may harden the dress making it difficult to where. You can get sticky back rhinestones in packs of 60 - 100 so you might just try dotting those about the costume. Just a thought.
thanks for the advice! If I use glitter glue it will be special fabric glue that's glittery I saw in Allder's haberdashery, but what i'll do is do a test on the back/inside of one of the straps or something lol

Aww thankies hunny! I decided I hated the "slit" i cut out of the dress and ended up scrapping the whole dress! I also hated the "neckline" I made... it didnt fit right and looked hideous on... so back to hunting down another base dress lol
