|Time Taken :||Three days|
I love Pokémon, and although I wanted to cosplay something from it, there was never really anything that grabbed my attention - that is, until I saw the design for the female trainer from HeartGold/SoulSilver! I love dungarees/overalls, and the hat was adorable (and I really wanted to try making that thing!) so I decided I might as well go for it.
The dungarees were made from some fabric I had left over from my sister's overalls for her cosplay of The Engineer from Team Fortress 2. The straps are a bit crappy, as I didn't make them long enough so I had to add an extra bit on, but other than that I'm happy with them. The socks are some I already owned with some black lycra loops I made tacked onto them, and the shoes are borrowed from my sister, as I painted Autobot logos on my own red converses and they would have been a bit out of place!
The red shirt is made from some red sort-of-lycra fabric, which I found in our local fabric store for uber cheap (and I was happy to find it, as they sell proper lycra for upwards of £10 a metre...ouch!). The collar is made out of some fleece, and the black shirt is just a scrap of black lycra.
And finally, the hat...now, this was the fun part! I first made a sort of beanie hat out of some fleece, and then made the huge outer layer using more fleece. I sewed them together and turned them the right way out, and added stuffing to make it poof out even more than it already did. The result was me looking like Toad from Super Mario, which was amusing. Next, I added the peak of the hat, made out of two layers of white fleece with a piece of cereal box card sandwiched between them. After that, I made the red strap and bow, and handsewed them to the hat.
