|Cost :||£25 ish, not including the Duel Disk!|
|Time Taken :||took about 2 days - mainly because of the accesories >o<|
|Hmm I really got into YGO again randomly & desperately wanted to cosplay as Ishizu! I thought it would be an easy deal, as the dress itself is rather simple. Foolish me , I totally didn't take into account all her jewellery and gold detail etc!! Gah! Luckily my wonderful boyfriend and his mad DIY skills came in useful lol!! Starting from top to bottom!!|
Veil - left over material from the dress I cut into appropriate shape. I then dangled it over my wig and secured it with the elastic band from the Millenium Eye head piece! :D Make sure the elastic is not too tight, or it will eventually be painful lol!
Headpiece - All this was , was a piece of sturdy cardboard cut into the relevant shape. I then drew in the details of the ' Eye ' etc , and to make the 3D relief, I added jewellery clay and stuck it on the pattern. I then went over all of with paper mache! About 3 layers so it was nice and sturdy. I then painted it gold and went over the details and grooves with a permanent black marker! For the front pattern, I got gold string and connected each side, threading the green gem through first.
Hair tube thingies - These are simply kitchen roll tubes I painted and put detail on lol!! Then I just pinned them to my wig so they didn't slip.
Dress - Again, easy! I brought some non see through fabric. I went more cream as opposed to bright white , as I thought it would give a more aunthentic look. Admittedly, the fabric could have been a little more ' flowey '. Anyway, I digress!! I then altered a Grecian dress style pattern, atering the neckline, and adding a slit at the front of the dress. Sew it together - voila!!
Millenium Eye necklace - Same principle as the heap piece. I then bought appropriately shaped wooden beads I painted gold and thread through a thick piece of gold string. Thank you to my mum for putting on the fastener thingy for it xD!
Gold collar on dress - Hmmm, my boyfriend made this lol. So I can't be too detailed on its construction. This was basically a piece of gold cloth with carefully measured out segments of cardboard attached. The segments allow for free movement instead of it being one , big rigid collar making movement hard!! He then connected the gem - which is a larger version of the one on the head piece so they match. We left a spare margin on the material so it could easily be sewn to the collar of the dress!
Gold arm and foot bands - Plastic type material ( bad idea paniting plastic is not fun ) painted gold and added a bit of velcro for attachment!
Belt - This needs re-doing, as in the anime her belt looks more ' solid ' than material; But hey, it did the job. This is just a gold piece of material with thick gold string sewn onto it. For the round and triangular shapes she has hanging - again, painted cardboard threaded through the string.
Sandals - Cheap gold ones I had lying about the house lol.
I wore this for Otakon 2009! I was suprised by the amount of attention I got for it. Considering the bog standard materials and techniques used for its construction lol!
