I really enjoyed being envy and he is such a great character to be and is worth cosplaying. It was also my first ever cosplay. Overall, it was about 8-10 hours work. Envy's hair was the most difficult part. I cut out 90 pieces of foam. 20 long ones. 20 medium ones and 50 short ones. I then sprayed them green and hand sewed them onto a woolly hat, starting from the bottom. I would have used my sewing machine but the hat was too thick, so it took hours! For Envy's headband, i left part of the hat showing and sewed on red felt for the triangle, i had to bear in mind though that when being worn the hat is streched and so would the felt, that was annoying to figure out lol. For the Ouroboros tatto, i printed a picture off the internet and used a craft knife to make a stencil, then glued the stencil to my leg with a glue stick and coloured my leg with felt tip pen, it works well and doesn't come off easily. I had to try to exlain to my Physical Education teahcer what i did at the weekend, and that it was not a real tattoo... The top is an old no sleeve top which i folded the bottom half inside and then sewed around the bottom. The 'skirt' is made from an old apron that had the top cut off and a trinage cut out of the middle, it ties together at one side, so the other side is joined where the triangle is. The shorts are my dad's lycra shorts. Yes my dad's. The socks have had holes cut out of them and then the edges folded over and ironed with 'wonder-web' (basically glue you melt with an iron). The gloves are made from the top half of socks and folded over and ironed like the socks were. | |

The foam idea for the hair is AMAZING! honestly it looks bang on. I always thought that styles like Envy's would just be either increadibly difficult and expensive using a wig (not to mention heavy) and wouldn't look right.
So this is a great idea and it's likley far cheaper than using wigs since you'd need at least 4 wigs for envy....and a core base to style the wig around.
