Description
Did this with Freyarule and picklesofdoom for our Pokefamily :D They were Gardevoir and Kirlia respectively. This costume was irritating to get working due to all these awkward stuff that Gallade has! It made us stress out too much >_< The top was green silky satin made from a top pattern with an enlarged collar. The pointy arm thing (weapon) was made from craft foam and stuffing, and was then sewn onto the arm of the top in various palces to keep it from sagging. The red gems were made from foam and red satin which were then velcro'd to the top and zentai suit respectively. The facial features on the zentai suit were the same methods as Freyarule did for her Gardevoir. The ass pillow as we have come to "affectionately" call it, was horrible work out. It was made out of white satin and then MEGA STUFFED and then velcro'd to itself to bit around my hips. Unfortunately it kept slipping during the day (the suit is very slippery) so safety pins were in order. The flaired legs are legwarmers, we used a tutorial suggested to us by littlepidgey4 (Freyarule's flatmate and fellow cosplayer) which we used to create that illusion. It worked well but the legwarmers need a wash as they are very dirty from the ground at Expo XD The helmet was the most grief for us, trying to get it to work was so hard. We tried several methods and in the end we used a fleece hat pattern to make the base hat, then cut out bits to give it the painted edge. Some boning was put in the horizontal line, to give it shape. Then another bit of boning was put inside a line of mint green satin, and the rest of the satin was made into the fin, which also has boning and stuffing inside. All the pieces were hot glued to each other, and the fin kept flopping but attaching it to some of the helmet fabric somehow gave it stability. The whole thing was velcro'd to the top of the head of the zentai suit. I had a lot of fun wearing this, although I couldn't really see anything but I was fine. I enjoyed hearing people recognise who we were, all that stress was worth it :D
