| *This costume is now retired* I wanted an easy and comfy cosplay for small events or as a back-up cosplay and thought one of Usagi's casual outfits would suit this. Also it's just fun being the dumpling head =p Usagi first wore this outfit in episode 12 (9 in the English dub) I think and it was seen regularly after that. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This outfit was easily put together from shop brought items. Got a green shirt and a white pleated skirt off ebay and I changed the green buttons on the shirt to yellow ones as in the references. The plimsoles/ tennis shoes I got cheap from Priceless. I changed the white laces for black ones and painted parts of the shoe black (some references look dark brown but I think black will look fine). Got the turquoise socks from a pack of 5 from New Look and simple pearl stud earrings from Claire's Accessories. I brought some girls bow hair bands from Accessorize and altered them slightly. I'm still on the look out for a pale blue denim jacket but have a dark blue one for now until I find a more accurate one. The wig was what I originally had commissioned by SephNoir for my PGSM Sailor Moon cosplay but I think the odango style is more suited to the anime look so I'm using that wig for this costume instead. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I first wore this to the Japanese Arts Festival in February 2010. A few Japanese people recognised me as Usagi which was nice and others knew I was from Sailor Moon. The costume was comfy but I left wig hairs everywhere! If I wear this again I hope to have a more accurate jacket. *FEB 2011 UPDATE* Bringing Usagi out again for a private photo shoot with Frederica_la_Noir as Rei Hino =) I have bought a more accurate jacket and a new shirt. | |

New jacket (Posted 26th November 2010) I borrowed my mum's before because I couldn't get one in time but now I've finally got a more accurate one. Although Usagi's is turquoise with bright yellow buttons it looks in the denim jacket style so I went with that for more "realism" I guess. |

New shirt and buttons (Posted 26th November 2010) I originally bought 2 shirts off ebay but this one arrived after JAF. I prefer this one however so will be using it from now on. I also got some brighter yellow buttons, they glare a bit when using flash though ^^' |

Shoes (Posted 25th November 2010) The plimsoles/ tennis shoes I got cheap from Priceless. I changed the white laces for black ones and had to shorten them. I ran a lighter over the cut ends to seal them and stop them from fraying. I used black acrylic paint on parts of the shoes to match the design (some references look dark brown but I think black will look fine). I think they look pretty good but the paint does chip easily and needs top-ups after each use. |
