|Originally I was just looking at Jill's S.T.A.R.S. uniform and thought it'd be awesome to own her shoulderpads. Then I became a little obsessed with the idea and ended up cosplaying this in 2010. Despite being a normal looking cosplay, it also turned out being my most expensive one ever... damn all those little bits and details! I really loved cosplaying Jill though. I ended up getting loads of compliments on the rocket launcher and had a great time with PREDATOR PETE as my S.T.A.R.S. Chris :)|
The wig was one for £15 from eBay and I was a little unsure about buying it at first, as the pictures made it look particularly shiny. I've had an experience before where one of the wigs I've bought was insanely shiny to the point where I didn't even bother wearing it, but when it arrived I loved it so much and I'm glad that it was the one I chose! <3 It's perfect for Jill and it's incredibly soft and lovely.
The shirt was a very lucky find on eBay and has ribs all across it. I loved it so much when I got it that I almost didn't want to customise it and wanted to use it for every day wear XD My sister sorted out the princess seams on the front of the shirt as well as the one seam down the back. The STARS patch was bought from eBay and ironed on nicely! The letters on the back were done by my sister with marker pen. Unfortunately after a wash the colours have all run and it's been destroyed which has upset me so much :( Definitely going to remake the top because this is one of my favourite cosplays and I can't bear to part with it.
The shoulderpads were the main reason why I wanted to make this cosplay in the first place and they're so comfy to wear! They're made from foam with dark blue polycotton sewn around it. Webbing was used for the straps with a release buckle and made extra tight (accidentally...). I had a little trouble when attaching the studs however as I didn't really know how to go about it, so I originally attmpted superglue, considering they were metal. They didn't stick unfortunately but it didn't do any damage to the fabric thankfully! In the end I decided to sew through the foam and just pull them tight and it's come out with the effect that I wanted in the first place which I'm very happy about.
The belt with the pouch I made myself. I ordered some webbing from eBay and constructed it using that, a cheap camera case from eBay and some release clips. I'm really happy with how it turned out as it was pretty simple to make!
The rest of the pieces were things that I could easily get hold of on eBay - pants, beret, holster and fingerless gloves. The watch was also acquired from eBay, however was one of those cheap ones you can find from sellers in China. It had a metal strap so I replaced it with a brown leather one similar to Jill's. Unfortunately that strap is a bit tight around the glove and isn't long enough to go around the correct place, but it sits fine in a different place.
The boots were something that my sister already owned that looked similar enough, so I chose to use them instead of shelling out more money on something I didn't need! Funnily enough the next time I wore the shoes out, the heel completely came away from the base so I had to go out and buy some new ones for the rewear. Typical :P
I couldn't find a small plastic gun for a while so I decided on making the rocket launcher instead. The base was a cardboard box and I glued foam over the top of it. This was spray painted with car paint. Unfortunately it's not 100% complete for expo (for example it's missing the handle and scope etc) however it's in a cosplay worthy state so I'll still be bringing it on the day :) I've also been given some BB guns to borrow so hopefully I can use them for a photoshoot one day!

Jill is good to go :) (Posted 15th February 2011)
Was unsure on whether I'd be able to be Jill this weekend for Midlands Expo, but I managed to find some replacement shoes in Shoe Zone :D They're steel toe cap boots which were £25, which I thought was alright really :) Quite happy with the find. I'm going to give my sister some money tomorrow night so that she can respray the rocket launcher, as the paint suffered a bit of battle damage the last time I took it out :P
My S.T.A.R.S. watch seems to have gone missing which is unfortunate, so I'm going to take a look around my room on Friday night. If I can't find it, I'll have to go without :( Just have to make sure I can find all the pieces for Jill now lol :P
Rocket launcher progress (Posted 26th May 2010)
Sprayed rocket launcher, going to give it another coat tomorrow. Won't be 100% complete by expo but it'll be good enough to take on the day :)
Rocket launcher progress (Posted 16th May 2010)
Got the main bulk of the rocket launcher completed over the weekend. Will continue more with it when I get hold of more superglue and spray paint :)
Shirt completed (Posted 16th May 2010)
Finally got some more photo progress for Jill! Just completed the shirt yesterday and I'm very happy with how it came out :) I love the ribs on the shirt - almost didn't want to customise it for Jill because I loved the shirt so much!
Gloves + watch (Posted 7th April 2010)
Finally got some proof that I've actually done something on this cosplay! I've actually got most of the costume sorted now, so here's just a taster of some of the pieces that I've finished. I love the STARS watch so much. The watch itself was one from a cheap seller on eBay then I had the strap replaced with a brown leather one. Unfortunately it's a little bit tight when it goes around the glove, but it definitely looks a lot better than it did with the metal strap it arrived with.
