Costume Information

Cost : £225 for wool, £180 for suiting
Time Taken : 25 hours

This was made as a commission for a client recently. I was happy to make this as I'd always wanted to make a really high quality FMA uniform.

Made from real Navy Wool and lined for comfort. Jacket includes two welted breast pockets, hand braided military braid and hand stitched braid on shoulders. Carefully picked subtle buttons were used for the decoration and the stars were hand painted. Bias binding was hand made from a heavy duty cotton to match the skirt waistband perfectly. Heavy duty poppers were used for the closures on the jacket. Commissioner requested not to have a specific character so the uniform colours are not included on this uniform.

The skirt was made using the same wool and matching lining as the jacket. The buttons were made using the same fabric as the bias binding and the waist band so they would match. The skirt buttons onto the trousers so the skirt doesn't shift when being worn.

The trousers were made with the same wool again and are high waisted to match the length of the jacket. The bottom of the legs are drafted wide so they look better when worn under boots. The hem is hand stitched and the length is custom to the commissioner. Includes two good sized pockets which are overlocked inside for durability.

Updated to include a lighter suiting version of the uniform. These are less expensive and easier to wear in the summer.

I love how you've used navy rather than the bright blue that you see on a lot of other cosplayer's military uniforms - I think you've got the colour spot on! This looks brilliant, really good job.

Wow! *Jaw drops* That really is Neat work. Congrats on this costume, the finish is excellent.

ps With all these comissions I hope it isn't sapping the fun out of making your costumes for yourself.. (I've heard it's allways a danger when a hobby turns into work).

@Ranma 1-2- I totally get what you mean, but I find my own costumes are always a bit more intense than commission work so it doesn't sap the fun. Besides, the more work I do the more I improve, so I'm thankful for all of this work!

@Mungojerrie- Thank you! I hate how bright all the other FMA uniforms look so I made sure when I make them to get a good military navy. It almost looks black in some lights, but it works really well.

More intense?..that'll be because you relish the most difficult challenges :P A way of improving.. that's a great take on it. :)
