|Awards :||Runner Up At the Japanese Art Festival Cosplay Catwalk Feburary 2010|
|Time Taken :||27 Hours|
|How did you survive. . . .|
I had to survive, i wanted to come home to you. . . .
So. . . . I sang your song
This costume is for Kitacon 2010, and also for the japanese art festival, which will also be on the masquerade omg shock =D.
Garnet is my favourite final fantasy girl, like fusionroses is beatrix, people instantly assume my favourite is aerith and hers is rinoa, rinoa and aerith are our second favourite, however there the ones we wanted to cosplay first.
And do our favourites when we had more skill, which the time has come now.
2/1/10 - Garnet's bodysuit is now finished and all it needs now is to be cut to the right shape for her underneath white top =], be warned it is very orange XD. Garnets bodysuit is as you can see tight fitted to her body, so i had to use a fabric which gave me this (out goes most options of fabric XD). In all honesty in the game it looks like garnets bodysuit is made of a soft leather, a look no one could ever get perfect due to being to fabric that exists XD. So i looked and decided that lycra would be best, it stretchs, allows your skin to breathe and won't make me sweat should the day be boiling. Now another problem i came across was lycra does not exactly come in a variety of orange XD, who blames anyone to be honest, it is an awful colour ><, anyway i went with the colour i thought was better as the other orange looked more well peach o.0, In all honesty im nervous about wearing this suit XD.
29/01/10 - And a photoshoot for this costume has been comfirmed and will be done by the awesome TheMagicalLucy, so thank you so much ^^.
19/2/10 - I have decided to bring this with me to the japanese art festival, to be honest the only reason im wearing this one is because none of my other costumes are ready lol XD.
23/2/10 - Timpey has agreed to be my zidane for saturday at kitacon and for the photoshoot =] He is so awesome, and so are his cosplays i feel very honoured *bows*
26/2/10 - Well after hearing from jecht that one of his mates is going as kuja and wants to kitdnap me at the japanese art festival, looks like im up for a photoshoot on sunday with a kuja, should be fun -.^
White shirt was made by the amazing kitsune cosplay =]
This costume is for SATURDAY at kitacon
8/8/10 - Being brought out again to go with fusionroses ruby on the sunday of amecon, friday night the long hair garnet will be out for the ff9 photoshoot.

Staff Progress (Part 6) (Posted 27th February 2010)
once the red paint was dry enough for me to touch i did the rest of the areas with green paint and then hair dryed them again, and ta da, but there are loads of mistakes =[ but i will edit those.
Staff Porgress (Part 5) (Posted 27th February 2010)
After spending an hour drying the paper clay with a hair dryer i finally got down to painting it, i drew the lines on the ball with a blunt pencil and then painted it, then used a hair dryer to dry it for another 30 minutes.
Staff Porgress (part 4) (Posted 27th February 2010)
Basically i wa going to paint then lines of the staff on, but with the lack of time, i grabbed some spre red tape i had and swung it round the staff for the pattern XD
Staff Progress (Part 3) (Posted 24th February 2010)
fail fail! the staff looks horrible, im so sorry, anyway the triangle bit was not working, i couldn't get it to shape, so i just did what you see.
Staff Progress (Part 2) (Posted 24th February 2010)
Ok so i started spray painting the wooden dowel. . . that was simple enough apart from the fact it has been raining the past 2 days and this staff needs to be done for saturday morning >< damn the art festival better be worth it lol. I went to paint the styrofoam ball with paper mache on it, Well that didn't work all the cracks from the paper mache showed through and it looked horrible. So i pulled all of the paper mache off, and spray painted the styrofoam ball again. The paint melted the ball!!! omg i couldn't believe i was so angry ><. Anyway just when i thought all hope was lost, the mail came and so did my paper clay, thank god, i covered the melted ball with paper clay and did my best to make it as flat as possible which failed so now the ball of my staff is going to be lumpy!
Staff Progress (Part 1) (Posted 24th February 2010)
Ok i brought a styrofoam ball for the head of the staff and a wooden dowel for the stick of the staff, the wooden dowel was to long, as garnets staffs are shorter than her, so i cut the wodden dowel and this is what i have so far.
Choker and gloves (Posted 22nd February 2010)
These were brought of ebay for really cheap lol, im currently working on the belts that will go on the gloves
Back of bodysuit (Posted 22nd February 2010)
The lace was done with eyelets that i hammered together to keep them firm, and because the fabric im wearing is stretchy i then glued them inside the tiny gap to ensure they stayed in place, the lace is just sone orange ribbon that is so pretty =]
Completed shirt (Posted 22nd February 2010)
The puffs on the sleeves were done by threading in and out and pulling the thread tightly so the puffs were created in the sleeves.
Pendant (part 3) (Posted 22nd February 2010)
Painted with silver metallic paint, i did 3 layers to check all areas were painted nicely and evenly, and the pendant is now finished =]
Pendant (Part 2) (Posted 22nd February 2010)
I brought some clay to make the crown, unfortunatly the clay was awful and wouldn't stick together or take shape, so i just had to do the crown ontop of the pendant quickly, then took me A LOT OF GLUE, to get that pendant to stay in place, then i brought some curtain pins and put one ontop of the crown while it was drying so i could put the chain through and wear it as a necklace.
Pendant (Part 1) (Posted 22nd February 2010)
after studying other garnet cosplays on cosplay.com a friend told me what was the name of the jewel she used for her garnet pendant, so i looked on ebay and found a couple, however no one makes the jewels very big like garnets actually is, so i had to settle for the biggest i could find, i made sure i brought one that shined green in the light as when eiko and garnet connect the pendant does indeed shine green.
Next step belts (Part 3) (Posted 22nd February 2010)
After 1 hour on each leg i got both belts done on the legs, i stitched originally with black thread as a guideline, and now have pulled all the threads out and re stitched them with orange thread.
Next step belts (Part 2) (Posted 22nd February 2010)
Got the belts, edited them a little bit as the straps were far to long and thick so i gave them a trim, the nightmare was i had to wear the bodysuit while stitching them onto my legs as the fabric had to be stretched, otherwise the belts would be stitched in the wrong places of fabric and then my legs wouldn't get into my bodysuit, i pinned myself about 20 times lol.
Next step belts (part 1) (Posted 22nd February 2010)
once the bodysuit was ready to have details added to it. . . i thought right belts, yes there not perfect but i was happy with them, this is just a picture of the side of the bodysuit before i started on the belts
Wig (Posted 27th January 2010)
Woooh the base wig came, it didn't take long to style either as it was quiet a short base wig anyway, took pictures at my aunties and it is at my aunties lol i left it there by accident buuut she only lives a 30 minute walk away so i can go get it before kitacon, Garnets hair is not black, it is a very very dark brown, which is the shade i have used for this wig. =]
