|I'm a huge die hard Tales of Symphonia fan|
I've been waiting for this game for so longgg
I've been a very happy fan, with the OVA series and all
and now this *w*
I love Emil~
He's adorable XDXD
His outfit is rather spiffy to
Navigatorxnami as my Marta 8D
-- I made the base mostly from scratch and guess work XD
Sewed it together and lined it - then discovered it was just a taddd too tight round the top area and a bit baggier lower down.
So I redrew the pattern and modified it once again, cut the parts out, sewed them together and relined again. The second time was a success 8'D
I sewed a zip into the side to allow easy access and then cut the slits into the back.
I had to make my own bias binding as all the ribbons and binds were either to shiny or thin etc. Which made lining the bottom edge frustrating and fairly time consuming.
I bought the pants base and turned the bottoms up and sewed them. Then I hemmed the yellow material into strips and machine sewed the four that cross the leg horizontally. I had to hand stitch the two vertical strips which was done during lengthy skype convos to avoid boredem XD
The belt pieces were made from pleather - hemmed each side and then zig zag stitched the yellow ribbon down the centre. The belts were difficult to attach as they would prevent me from getting the base on. So they were only sewn in centre areas and hang loosely the rest of the way round the body.
The buckles were cut from the pleather and then detailed using a silver marker pen and a black marker.
The scarf was made from scratch - the emblem was cut from the blue material and then pinned into place. I then set my machine to zig zag and the spacing around .5 [very close] and sewed round the motif directly on the edge to prevent fraying.
The gloves were originally 'stripper gloves' XD They were the only type I could find that weren't velvet, netted etc that went that high. I then cut the tops off a pair of black socks and sewed them to the top of the gloves. The triangles were cut from the blue and stuck on.
The wig took about three hours to style - I used a friends head as the base 8D
Hair dryer and got2BGlued spray. The quiff at the top sticks up by using a piece of wig fibre/strand /s as a rope and tying a very tight knott at the very bottom of the hair. This allows it to blend and also pushes the hair upwards. Then a quick spray and hair dry to add the curve and maintain it's shape.
The shoes were originally slip on black shoes - I cut the back from them using some scissors and then covered them with the sleeves from a black top. The yellow strip was hemmed and glued on as was the white piece. The cuff part was stuck onto the remainder of the top and then sewn so it just slipped on.
For Ventus's core I used a large green bouncy ball I chanced across. The emblem was drawn on with silver marker.
The back round piece thingyyy was made using foam as a base. I bought a thick wadge of the stuff and then came to the realisation that obviously scissors would not cut it. In the end I used a bread knife 8D
After literally sawing a circle shape from it - I covered the base with white material and made two flaps - each hemmed. Then attatched with hot glue. I added an old cut up belt round the bottom and added the details using a silver and black marker pen.
It makes sitting down - impossible ;_;
The costume is simple enough to get on - but it takes me a good few minutes to wriggle out of it due to all the straps and such XD;
Regardless I love wearing this costume <3
