|Believe it or not, this is my first costume. I had help from my boyfriend Paul, who used to make historical armour.|
This is a pretty complexe costume, and has an insane number of componants.
The Underdress...Fairly simple. Made from o couple of sparkly shirts from a charity shop, inside out and redesigned to make a dress.
The Shirt. Similar to a waistcoat, zips at the back. the collar is layered with gold leaves. These were in strips, hand cut...there were many!
THe Bodice. Made of about twelve pieces of red vinyl, hand sawn and weathered with acrylics.
The Skirt. Adapted a 1960's A skirt pattern. Again, indiviually sawn strips of leaves. Many, many strips and it took hours. Back breaking!
The Gloves. Possibly the hardest things I had to make. It took many attempts! but I'm fairly pleased with them.
The Armour. Made the pattern from card, armour made from mild steel. Shaped and embossed. We had to make the tools to emboss it. Painted with car spray paint. Harness is made of leather and vinyl.
