|Time Taken :||One week|
|The Maximum Impact series of KOF are silly, and the costume designs are even worse. I fell in love with the geeky Nagase, and laughed so hard at the costume that I knew I had to make it. I *hate* yellow, but it looks so hilarious, and there was going to be a KOF group...hey presto! I got to be the world's worst ninja for Amecon 2007.|
I chose to cosplay her pretty late, and rather than spreading the making out over a month or so, decided to take the week off before Amecon and speed sew. To an extent is was alright as her overall costume is fairly simple, although slightly time consuming.
All the retina-burning yellow is fleece which is nice and stretchy..shame I didnt think about that when I sewed the NON-stretchy boa fur for the black lines >.< I initially intended to cannibalise a stripey jumper (or two) for her legging and sleeves, but being the middle of august there wasn't much around! So both the leggings and sleeves had to be sewn from scratch, which probably took the longest out of all the costume parts.
The hand guards and various details were done with funky foam, although I didn't get a chance to finish her finger armour. I found some really close looking star buttons in my local craft shop and managed to put them all over the costume.
The wig was probably the second reason for choosing this costume (the first being the urge to cosplay something so rediculous) and was the part that took the most thinking. I was originally going to make it out of a punky wig and colour in the yellow and black parts, but thought that might take too long. In the end I ended up chopping up two wigs I had, and sewing it onto a blonde one that I bought. Probably not the most conventional method of adding 'wefts', I took chunks of hair from the massacred wigs and sewed them in place to make the colour changes. The black back part was made out of the top most part of a punky wig, and sewn onto the blonde wig upside-down - this meant that it stuck upwards without any extra styling!
