|Ohh.. this costume is one of my favorite, since its actually pretty comfy!|
Me and my freinds wanted to do a tsubasa group, and I was cast a sakura! This was to begin a long line of sakura costumes!
The hardest part was those sourcing those metal coins, after months of looking, a friend offered to make them for me. sqeeeee!!!!
The costume can be split up into three main parts, The top, the trousers and the skirt.
For the top, I borrowed a gypsy top pattern from lizzy. I basically used the pattern , but didn't gather the seams in at the hems. The top was then trimined in hand made piped black trim.
All of the pink jewels where made by painting the back of clear pvc with a mixture of pink, white, silver and red paints to get a marbled effect. These where then sewn onto a thick interfacing/board, with a little stuffing in between to give them shape.
The trousers where made by flaring out a trouset pattern and then gathering the seams in at the ankels.
The skirt was made using a huge circle of fabirc, which was pleated into a waistband. The pattern was appliqued onto the bottom and the used home made bias binding for trim.
There are around 100 metal coins on the hem alone!
The thing I love most about this costume is the insane amount of noise I make simply walking.. all those metal coins claning together !!!
