It wasn't meant to be

Cowboy Bebop, Julia

All a dream.

Cowboy Bebop, Julia

Julia and Spike

Costume Information

A beautiful and mysterious woman from both Spike and Vicious' pasts. Despite being among the main driving points for the entire series, Julia only appears in flashbacks until the final two episodes of the series. She is a stark contrast to the world she inhabits: her blond hair, bright red umbrella, and automobile stand out noticeably in the otherwise drab environments in which she is seen.

An old costume that I've been meaning to revamp for a while now.

New bracelet and zipper pull (Posted 1st September 2013)

New belt & harness

Belt-update (Posted 27th July 2013)

Laser cut acrylic pieces - x2 parts for belt, x1 for zipper tab and x2 parts for bracelet.
The first belt piece was carefully heat molded around me and was used to help bend the second piece on top. The protective paper was removed before using acrylic glue to fix the two parts together. It was primed, chrome/gummetal spray paint was used.
I used soft faux leather for the fabric part, using two layers fixed together before cutting around the top of the belt where it will meet the edge. The leather will prevent the belt from scratching the latex suit.
The belt was glued onto the fabric and straps were made from the same leather - one between the legs and two either sides, using a large D ring and two smaller rectangle rings at the back.
Small studs were added to the straps and it fastens with velcro on the one side of the leather belt and at the back on the end of the one set of side straps.
The bracelet and zipper tab will be cut from acrylic too.

Latex catsuit (Posted 5th May 2013)

Finally bought it! :)

New Wig (Posted 20th May 2011)

The old was over due to be replaced, this one isn't as curly and not as long.

Heart bracelet (Posted 15th May 2011)

I ended up making my own silicone mould for accuracy to create a resin heart. The heart was moulded to the shape of my wrist before the resin set completely. I used craft foam pieces layered in latex to strengthen as a base behind the resin to attach the strap. The strap was a scrap of soft leather fastened with velcro. The heart was painted chrome with dry brush detail, a layer of metallic and latex to seal it. I always thought this was a watch until I found a high res reference.

Catsuit complete (Posted 9th October 2010)

Finished catsuit made from 2 way stretch wet look coated lycra.

Zip pull (Posted 9th October 2010)

Made from a scrap piece of plastazote and covered in a thin layer of latex, spray painted chrome with a small hoop attached to hang off the zip.

Zip (Posted 9th October 2010)

I used a 19inch long zipper from neck to waist.

Belt complete (Posted 9th October 2010)

Four hand made straps (2 either side) were attached to the side of the belt at the front and to the large D ring and buckles at the back and small studs were added on the straps for detail. Soft black pleather was fixed to the back of the main part of the foam belt to help support it and form the piece the whole belt fits onto going by the ref pic. A single strap connects the front piece of pleather to the back, attaching to the D ring at the top.

Painted belt (Posted 5th December 2009)

It needed more layers of latex to get it smooth before I finally finished spray painting it chrome.

Belt (Posted 22nd November 2009)

Using the only reference of her belt I made two paper stencils, one smaller than the other to create some depth and detail. I cut them out from plastazote and glued them together. Next stage will be covering them in latex so they are ready to paint chrome.
