Wig improvements (Posted 1st April 2010) So in a moment of madness before kite I decided to rework the wig to try and get more shape into it and make it a little fuller. I added more extensions to the back to fill out where there were a few gaps, added more extensions to the covering on the foamcore (so where there are gaps it's a lot less obvious) and coated the spikes in silicon. they hold together better and it meant i could trim them nicely. Much happier with it now but it feels more difficult to wear, think i must have pulled it tighter when i put the bunches in again. also on bunch is slightly higher than the other but shhh :p |

fixing up (Posted 7th December 2009) well although i listed her as complete i wasn't very happy with the edging- the ribbon had pretty much all fallen off around the arms by the end of the day and it was a little messy around the collar. I plan on taking her to Kitacon 2010 so i've bought some bias binding and it's ready to sew on, it nicely hides all my dodgy coloured thread and hopefully the collar will look a bit tidier too :) |

I hate this wig! (Posted 7th October 2009) What was I thinking . . . sew the extensions in: check so plan a,b and c failed, all seemed to be going ok, first spike went fine then the rest wouldn't hold so i bound the hair to the foam and wire structure i'd made with invisible thread and it just sort of looks a bit weedy and crap and I REALLY HATE IT :( I'm going to wash it out and have another go in the morning but at the moment i'm thinking Presea will not have spiky bunches :( |

tools of the trade (Posted 26th September 2009) Made the bag and belt and finished off the knife this afternoon, feel quite pleased with myself! adventures in glove making! (Posted 5th September 2009) So having blown the budget yesterday buying real leather for my gloves (it was the perfect colour and it's so soft and lovely) I thought I';d have a go at making them today while I wait for my wig to arrive So I'm making my own pattern- with a little help from a website- Wish me luck! I've only done 1 so far- it's a bit lumpy in places and you can see most of the stitches but i think i can tidy it up a bit, I also forgot to allow for the width of the top of my arm so i need to put a piece in, oops! i'm sure the left one will be much better! Edit (sunday morning)- woke up feeling brave and decided to strengthen the seams on the sewing machine (I'd hand stitched originally) and it's much better, just wish I'd been a bit more patient and cut the bits down between my fingers a bit more, I'm going to do the left one tonight so I'll post some pics in the morning |
