| So, cliff-notes version of how this costume came about. Sleeves: I started the sleeves first because I knew they'd be the hardest part. I made small basic sleeves to start with, leaving them open at the bottom. Then took about two metres of fabric, folded it into a triangle and pleated it along the hems of the smaller sleeve to make the billowing effect. I hand sewn the gold ribbon up and down both sleeves with gold thread, and made some god stars out of card, punctured two holes in each star point and sewed them onto the sleeve for added effect. Sash: Sash was just a length of gold satin that I hemmed all the way around. I added bells at the bottom and some green and gold beads as the trinkets. Bodice: The bodice was just another large section of fabric, made to measure around me. Hemmed again, a zip was sewn in at the back, from the top to half-way down. I made it a little longer by adding an extra layer of gold satin so it actually covers my ass. I sprayed some gold stars around the base of the green to make it less plain. The straps are just green ribbon, slip stitched on to the bodice. Cape: Another length of fabric hemmed and cut with a slit up the middle. Sprayed on a pattern I made with my own stencil to made it less plain. Added some poppers to the corner and to the straps of the bodice to make it billow. Boots: Bought a cheap pair of suitable boots and sprayed them gold. Headdress: An old hair band, again sprayed gold. I bought some large and small red feathers and painstakingly glued them into place. This gave me a headache, the sleeves especially, but I love the final look of it. I know its not like a lot of Rydia costumes, and in fact it looks nothing like the referance I was working from, but I'm very proud of this regardless. But remind me to never work with satin again. | |

You have been a busy bee! Glad to see the sleeves are now done! They look awesome, but I don't envy the amount of sewing you had to do to get them looking that good! :)

YAY for green make up! We definitely picked the right colours there! (even if the woman in superdrug did seem slightly concerned about all the green make-up)
Could do with a little more gold shimmer though, (you know me, I do like to see people all sparkly!)

Hiiiii! Thanks for the comment on my Haruhi. I did see you around a couple of times and I went: "Oh! Its the Rydia from Cosplayisland!" I wanted to get photos and say hello properly, but unfortunately all the times I caught sight of you we were rushing off one place or another or we had to wade through crowds of people to get to you T_T.
But your outfit looks so cool! Its really pretty and I LOVE the sleeves *has a thing for ridiculously long sleeves* You look gorgeous in it and I think the wig looks really nice too. There needs to me more FF4 cosplay darn it! Can't wait to see your updated version too. Good luck with it all! :)
