|Time Taken :||A long long long time|
|I didn't have a lot of time to complete Ed and in the end it wasn't. But nonetheless it went down very well at the expo and has probably been one of my most popular costumes.|
~Bought the leather trousers from eBay.
~White gloves are basic ones from Tesco. I tried to make my own but failed. Memo to self: learn to how to make gloves before attempting them the two nights before!
~Vest was simple enough to make using my mannequin.
~The black shirt with white lining gave me so much trouble mostly because I was without any access to images of Ed when I started it and ended up having to go back and fix it all up which took a lot of time. The metal clasp that holds it together is made of foam and silver pvc using buttons I bought from Hobbycraft to give it a bit of quality. Its actually attached with fasteners though not the buttons.
~The red coat was the best part. I had soooo much fun making it. I found a pattern for it in Cosmode which helped loads. Painted the symbol on the back with regular black acrylic paint. Usually I would sew it on but the symbol was so fine I thought that my painting skills would handle it better.
~The shoes are boots I bought from eBay, cut and painted. The red paint started to chip off though so I'll have to redo it at some point.
~The belt is made of brown leatherette which was a bit darker than I expected but it still looked good. The glue gun came in handy making the belt. It was difficult cos I've never made a belt before but hopefully it worked.
~The brown suitcase belongs to my step-mum. This became the best prop ever! I wasn't originally going to use it but I was unable to finish the automail in time so I needed something to distract from that.
I had such a great time wearing Ed and I'm so happy with the reception it recieved at the Expo. It was even better that my friend cosplayed as Al. Made for some great photos!
