|Time Taken :||4 hours|
|So, on Avalon - an RP site where I play Merlin and my girlfriend plays Arthur - Merlin got himself turned into a girl... it's a bit of a long story as to why, but basically that's what happened.|
When trying to come up with a costume I could do with limited time and limited funds, I was suddenly struck with inspiration to do a female version of Merlin.
In the show, Merlin wears browns trousers, a blue shirt and a red bandana round his neck.
Which, for a girl, I translated to a brown dress with a blue tunic and a red bandana in the hair.
I mostly did it for my own entertainment, and I love it to pieces, it's ridiculously comfortable to wear, not to mention lots of fun to run around in, swishing my skirts
I made it in the space of a single Wednesday before expo because that was all the time I had off, and it took me four hours altogether - which I am immensely proud of, because that time includes cutting and sewing the gown and tunic, and putting the eyelets on.
The eyelets....bleh. I need to redo them, I had the wrong tool and they went all squiffy. They worked for expo but they need redoing now.
The pattern I drew myself, but I used a little inspiration from a medieval gown pattern I saw on the web.
