Description
I am making this costume for my other half. When i decided I was going to be cosplaying Syaoran he sent me a link to a picture of this guy and said that he wanted to go as him, he hates sewing, whereas I quite like it, so I'm making both our outfits.

When he sent me the image he warned me not to go poking about or I'd get spoilers, and unfortunately I did. I have not yet encountered this character, I am currently on volume 8 of the manga, and desperate to get no more spoilers.

Good luck with this!! I've cosplayed this one myself :) Although I'd advise not to actually look at it if you're only on volume 8! :S I wouldn't want to spoil it for you ^^;

Eyepatch in a trice (Posted 6th October 2009)

tadar! as if by magic an eyepatch is made in a trice. It's only rough, not hemmed or anything, but it'll do. If i find myself with some spare time with nothing else to do I might make a better one, but for now this one will do :-D

Can't wait to see if it all fits my other half, we wont get a trial run before expo so i'm praying it's ok.

Damned collar! (Posted 6th October 2009)

Finaly finished the robe thing, and had a lot of trouble with the collar. In the end i compromised and didn't have it quite the way i wanted, but I hope the overall effect is fine.

Now all that's left is the eyepatch :-D oh, and to find a wig...

Yay for bondaweb! (Posted 19th September 2009)

Right, the appliqued emblem is done :-D I used bondaweb, then used a sewing machine as well to make sure it was secure. Considering all the monsterous stories I've heard of applique I think I've done really well :-D

I've also made the loose collar, and will attach it when i sew the body of the robe. I'm currently wondering about using starch to make it stand up better, i think I'll wait and see how it does without it. I'm also a tinsy bit concerned if the neck will be too big, but if it is then oh well.

The trousers are now finished :-D and I'm very pleased with them. They're a tinsy bit loose, but that's what happens when you measure the elastic round your boyfriend when he's just had his lunch!

Good progress, hope it all fits (Posted 13th September 2009)

I've now gone over the front and back segments with the sewing machine, I just need to sort out the collar and the logo before finishing it off.

I have also almost completed the trousers, all they are missing is a piece of elastic for the waist and then sewing that into place. I'm hopping these will fit my other half, he's comming down in a couple of days so I'll make him try them on then. *fingers crossed*

Finaly actualy begun (Posted 4th September 2009)

Right, well, this outfit is now unarguably underway. I have begun work in cutting out the fabric for the top/robe thing. And have begun tacking it together with the linning. Tomorrow i intend to go over it with the machine.

As for the question of a zip, I've decided not to, simply to make it that little bit simpler.

to zip or not to zip... (Posted 16th August 2009)

I am deep in thought as to the details of assembling this outfit. My chief question is whether to place a zip down the back, so the robe-thing will go on like a backwards coat, or make it looser fitting so it just pulls over the head like a dress. I must confess I am more inclined towards the slightly looser over the head aproach, as i worry a zip might badly affect the overall look. But then I don't know, because the outfit is supposed to be quite fitted.

Fabric Shopping (Posted 30th July 2009)

Went to Fabricland in Brighton today and it was awsome! really want to go back again now! Thankyou to the guys who took me there, and helped me pick out the fabrics I'm using. I'm not sure if I've got enough for the lining, but i can always go back and get more if not.

Now to start actualy making it :-D yay :-D
