| One of the quickest costumes, in terms of fabrication, to date. I found this quite heavy stretchy satinny material (same stuff as Daruma) and made up a quick pattern for the vest and shorts. Found some perfect light blue drill cotton and made up a template for the applique for the hexagonal zigzag and square spirals pattern on the shorts and vest. These were ironed on and then finished with strips of the blue drill folded into bias around the hems. It can't be seen but the waistband on the shorts is elasticated. Headband and blue spikey hair are one. The head band was made bigger deliberately or it would have looked too tight on the head. The wig started off as an electric blue punkish wig with very few spikes. Since Horohoro had two-toned hair, I folded the back of the wg upwards to give more hair in the top of th head and then used spray mount to hold the spike shapes and scissors to shape the spikes and give them even length. The head band was sewn in strategic positions around the wig to cover the area where the wig was folded up. Snowboard is two layers of 5mm thick foamcore with the edges sealed up with bathroom/kitchen sealant and then sprayed with a based coat of offwhite. My brother then painstakingly shaped masking tape so that he could spray the patterning on the board. Not bad for 2-3 days of spray. | |
