|This was probably my most over-worn costume (it's retired now) but I love it!|
The dress is made from stretch jersey and it sticks out because the bottom half is a circle-skirt with a hula-hoop inserted. The jacket was adapted from a military jacket I found at Primark. It was originally double-breasted and four sizes too big, so it had to be almost completely taken apart and re-sewn. The wig and boots were lucky finds - the boots were £1 from a charity shop (!!!) and were easily customised with some fleece and thick elastic for the stripes. The velvet for the ears and tail had to be hand-dyed together with the tights so they would all be matching. The ears were kindly sewn by hand for me by Ninodog, as I was rushing to finish them at Minami.
As for the wig, I had searched all over London and online but couldn't find the right style and colour anywhere. Eventually I saw my wig in the window of one of those shops on Oxford St which sells stripper clothes. It's a Smiffy's wig which was originally a brighter shade of pink, but had faded after lying in the window for years. After arguing with the manager I convinced him to sell me it, et voila, I had my wig!
The best thing about this costume was the bounciness of it - I couldn't sit still or take myself seriously at all!
