Costume Information

Cost : unsure @o@
Time Taken : hmm about 2-3months

Well, this was the first cosplay that was fully made up or built up by myself, my dad and my grandmother.
I am a member of Final Fantasy IX UK group on DA, and was in the masquerade with all the other great FFIX cosplayers at London expo May 2009, Saturday.
I really am proud of this cosplay but of course want to improve on parts and its not 100% complete; I need to make the elbow guards and possible the metal bars thing that goes aroudn the bauldric/shoulder belt.
My father and I worked on the armour and sword, with discussions on how the make it/fix together. While I had help with the farbic side of things from my grandmother.
The armour is mainly made out of wonderflex, with coatings of flexible ceiling paint and sanded down to smooth it out, and out of craft foam.
The hat helmet had used a hat base to stick the craft foam to and weight it down, with some polymorph used for the feather holder.
The buckle on the bauldric (will put up some seperate photos of it as current ones do not have the bauldric on) was made out of plastic pipes and metal pipe corners, with polymorph smoothing out between the two pipe parts.
Pauldrons/leg armour are attached to a silver painted basic made belt type thing, with 2 strips of the same material used for the belt and bauldric, on each set of pauldrons, using split fasteners to attach onto the strips connecting to the belt.
3D fabric paint used for details and some smal filling.
Broadsword made out of wonderflex, a tiny bit of craft foam, dowling (not sure if spelt right n.n''' ) and polymorph. The original blade had been filled up with the DIY foam that expands, while the second broadsword had cut pieces of styrofoam stuck around the dowling and against the 2 sides of the blade.
Shoes had wonderflex used for main part of armour and back bits, craft foam for the on top decoration and split fasteners used to attach the front armour bit onto the shoe and allow for flexibility.

Thank you all for the nice comments, I never would have thought i would be able to pull it off but now i love this cosplay >.<
Hopefully I will be improving it more later in the year, at least by replacing the side parts of the chestplate armour and making the elbow armour.

Steiners been through a lot (Posted 17th July 2010)

Well it's time for Steiner to get his (rusty) armour in for repairs. The sides are going to be made out of wonderflex now since the craft foam, well, just plain sucked.
Also upon unleashing him from the suitcase noticed one of the pauldrons had bent out of shape, the craft foam part, so that will also be remade and replaced with wonderflex.
I will also be sorting out the coif as the silver netting needs lengthening so it doesn't keep coming over the top of the armour when it shouldn't, also sorting out some more connections for the large arm chainmail to hopefully make it hold up better.
Also hoping to get the elbow guards made as my arms feel so bare without them.
Lastly is if there's time for it since it's not that important, is moving the feather holder on the hat/helmet forward as its technically too far back.
Of course there will be paint touch ups as well, but that should be all that will be improved on for now, unless anyone would like to point anything else out.
