Description
"Captain John Hart. Note the sarcasm."

I decided that I would pursue this costume on my friend Chi-Ahn's birthday. A sort of pseudo-birthday present in the making if you will XD However, I did not expect to want to do it so soon.

The Anime and Manga Society at my university are doing an "Anglia Ruskin Red Coats" team cosplay. So when this opportunity arose, I thought, why not bring out the John cosplay to... Uh, play?

John's single-handedly my favourite character from Torchwood. It's such a shame he's put through kissing Jack Harkness (boooo!) >_<

This will be the first cosplay I have done where the character is not from an anime, but in fact a science fiction series. I don't think I could have chosen a more fun character for my first science-fiction fellow ^_^

Note: The "Exit Wounds" variant means that I'll be wearing a black t-shirt, not a grubby white one. Turns out John Hart does change his shirts! X3

There are no words to describe the utter epicness of this costume. I've tried to find them, there really aren't any.

Woo! A fellow John Hart cosplayer.
How did you make your jacket, by the way? I have some ideas, but I'm trying to figure out the best way to do it by asking other Hart cosplayers X3

Well I was lucky enough to come across a lieutenant's mess jacket in a local antiques shop. I then sewed braiding and additional buttons onto it =3

GAAAH so much done! (Posted 19th May 2010)

Okay, well, about six months later, despite everything, the costume is nearly complete. I managed to do THE JACKET, which was what made me most afraid. But it turned out good =3 With a week to go, I've just got painting and holster-making to do. Bring on Expo! And the Jack-Harkness-cosplayer glompers >_> XD

And I decided to cosplay two different versions of him; the Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang version - white t-shirt - and the Exit Wounds version - black t-shirt.

John is Amazing. (Posted 7th November 2009)

He is the singular most decadent Torchwood villain ever to grace the series, in my opinion. And he mixes the sweet with the sour by being an absolute sweetheart in his moments. And having lovely eyes ^___^

I am neither a sweetheart, nor do I have lovely eyes. However, this week I do have in my possession a base for John's Napoleonic jacket. It's not perfect; less buttons than he has and minus the embroidery, alas that can be added and the missing buttons can be put down to a fight. It looks worn too, like it's been through a few battles! It was £52 from a local Antiques shop. My housemates kindly chipped in for it as an early Christmas present. Merry Christmas indeed! <3
