| Tekken, although unloved by many, is my favourite fighting game series and Hwoarang my favourite character by far. He has a cool casual outfit, fights using Tae Kwon Do which I used to practice, and is generally a bad ass guy. I prefer his biker outfits to his dobok, and actually made his outfit from Tekken 3 for a friend's fancy dress party years back before I knew conventions existed :D When the designs came out for Tekken 5 I fell in love, and had to make it. The jeans and shoes were my own, the gloves I added the 'gauntlet' part to to make them more like his own. The top and chaps were made from scratch and caused me endless amount of hassle! The chaps less so, as they mainly took time to do, although when wearing they had a tendency to slip down after a while due to the weight of the metal. This is the one costume that made me appreciate my rivet tool. I think I counted 170 rivets in total on this costume, darn those absolutely useless chap belts! The top was okay to make, I took the shape from a high collared top I already had, but the designs took ages. I tested various methods to try and replicate the embossed leather look, and ended up laying a seperate design cut out of leatherette on top of the jacket and sewing around the edges. This was truly a test of my sewing machine skills, and caused a lot of swearing in my room! Overall it looked fairly messy, but I was pleased with the fact that it actually worked. Last but not least, the goggles we loaned by my friend Vivi - I actually had a pair offered by Spunky that were more accurate, but I thought these looked cooler. Yeah, but that time accuracy had gone out of the window anyway and I just wanted to have fun ;) Because I hate myself, I'm actually considering remaking this completely in an alternative colour version! It would actually give me a chance to complete the entire costume though, and do his hair and shoes properly. | |

I remember your crazy hair for this costume, even though at that point I had NO idea who you were cosplaying, having never played Tekken in my life.
